Our customer is one of the largest NHS Trusts in the UK and operates from several major hospital sites and a number of community locations.
Challenges
Formed as the result of a merger of several separate NHS Trusts, our customer provides care to over 2.5 million patients in its London borough.
When the merger took place, each of the separate hospitals had been running their own backup and disaster recovery solutions. In total the Trust’s server infrastructure is over 1,000 servers and many petabytes of data.
Protecting vital NHS patient data is an especially important consideration, especially when operational costs, accelerated digitalisation and operating performance are three areas under close scrutiny at the moment.
The scale of the merger created a clear need to consolidate the disparate backup and disaster recovery platforms into one superior service capable of handling the large volume of sensitive patient data.
